Ana Rita Romão is a narrative experimental film set in a make-believe mountain village cut off from the outside world by frequent lightning strikes. A young woman with nowhere else to turn arrives in the village and dreams of dancing at an underground club where only survivors of lightning strikes are allowed to perform. Will she wither in the face of adversity or will she thrive? Taking cues from mythology and religion, the film is a meditation on resilience and acceptance at the liminal crossroads between life and death.
